The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday in Uyo declared Mr Chris Ekpenyong of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district election.
Announcing the results, the INEC Returning Officer in the state, Prof. Peter Ogban, said Ekpenyong polled 118,215 votes to defeat Sen. Godswill Akpabio of All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 83,158 votes.
Akpabio was the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom.
The returning officer added that the total number of registered voters in the senatorial district were 655,525, accredited votes – 218,493, valid votes – 202,387 votes and void votes – 7,307.

Also declared was the federal constituency of Ikot Ekpene – Obot Akara – Essien Udim.
Announcing the result, the returning officer for the Federal Constituency, Dr Daniel Udo, said Nsikak Ekong of PDP scored 29,849 to defeat the incumbent Mr Emmanuel Akpan who scored 22,052 votes.
The returning officer said total votes cast was 52,237, while valid votes – 52,036 and 201 void votes. (NAN)
In Benue, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Emmanuel Orker Jev has defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) George Akume to win the Benue North West Senatorial seat.
Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Nicodemus Ochai, made the announcement on Tuesday.

Mr. Jev who is also the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on FCT, polled 157, 726 to beat the APC leader in the state, George Akume who polled 115,422.
The totally valid votes cast are 287, 028.
While in Kaduna, Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Kaduna Central senatorial seat.

He defeated Shehu Sani of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), who currently represents the district.
Profesor Zakari Muhammad, the Returning Officer, announced the result, stating that Uba Sani polled 355,242 votes against 70,613 votes secured by Shehu Sani.
Lawal Adamu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came second in the contest with 195,497 votes.
Shehu Sani had emerged as senator on the platform of the APC in 2015, but defected to PRP when he lost the APC senatorial ticket.
And in Delta, the senatorial dream of immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has crashed like a pack of cards following the landslide victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s National Assembly elections.
PDP, the ruling party in Delta State, comprehensively beat Uduaghan’s All Progressives Congress (APC), winning all but one of the eight local government areas in the senatorial zone. APC won only in Warri South, where it got APC 17,689 votes as against PDP’s 15,132 votes.
Overall, PDP garnered 258,812 votes – more than double of the 125,776 votes by APC, which lost by a whopping 133,036 votes, thus clearing the way for veteran Senator James Manager to return to the Red Chambers in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
