A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has barred the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, from contesting in the forthcoming election.
The presiding judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa on Monday ruled that the purported nomination of Abba Kabir as governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party is invalid, TVC reports.
The judge declared PDP’s candidacy null and void, adding that the party did not conduct governorship primary election in Kano.
Counsel to the plaintiff, Kabiru Usman stated that the PDP would have to provide another governorship candidate before the coming polls.
Usman, however, said the order does not affect Abba Kabir as a candidate but the PDP as a party.
