The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has condemned remark by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus that election may not hold in 2023.
Secondus, while speaking at the opening session of the PDP caucus meeting in Abuja had said there might be no election in 2023 if the military continue to participate during elections as they did during the just-concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.
However, the former Governor of Rivers State described Secondus’ claim as misplaced.
Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, Amaechi said: “If the chairman of PDP says no election in 2023, I cannot fight because I have a chairman. I think you know my chairman. He is equalled to take up the PDP chairman.
“The truth is that the chairman of PDP is not the president of Nigeria. Not even the president of Nigeria can stop the election in 2023 because there is a constitution.
“Neither, the PDP nor APC chairman can say there will be no election in 2023.”
