Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi were among the scorers as Thomas Dennerby’s side ended their debut outing on a winning note.
Nigeria signed off from their maiden Cyprus Women’s Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over Thailand on Wednesday.
Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi’s first-half strikes plus Anam Imo’s second half effort helped Thomas Dennerby’s side to a seventh-place finish at the Tasos Markos Stadium in Paralimni.
The Super Falcons came into the contest on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss to Belgium as they finished third with three points in Group C.
Former African Women Footballer of the Year Oshoala opened the scoring for Nigeria from Francisca Ordega’s assist in the 23rd minute.
Five minutes later, Ebi powered home the second from Chinaza Uchendu’s cross before Oshoala set up Imo for the third to ensure Nigeria rounded off their outing on a winning note.
Overall, Dennerby’s side won three games and lost thrice in six pre-Women’s World Cup friendlies played so far in 2019, including the China tour in January.
Nigeria will hope to make a huge leap on the next FIFA women’s ranking for March as well boost their preparations for this year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in June.
