The Abia state Commissioner of Police, Etim Ene Okon, has said that the state police command has no preferred candidate or working with any candidates for Saturday’s governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.
He disclosed that an order had been given for the withdrawal of police officers attached to candidates and politicians, revealing that there would be no vehicular movement during the election.
The Police Commissioner, who stated this in a live radio programme, and monitored by DAILY POST on Friday, reassured Abia electorates of well-secured and peaceful elections tomorrow (Saturday)
His words, “I want to assure every Abian that security is guaranteed. The peoples might supersede every other things. In election, the people’s might is in the ballot.
“And we are totally out to ensure that conducive and secured environment is provided to all eligible Abia electorate to exercise their franchise. We have put machineries in place. We will make sure the safety of the citizens are guaranteed.
“The was an order to the effect that police officers attached to VIP’s should be withdrawn. Security aides are not expected to accompany them to the polling booths with arms and uniforms.
“On restriction, there will be no vehicular movement, not foot movement. The police and other security agencies are out to create a level playing ground for everybody in this elections.
“We do not have any favoured candidate. Our job is to ensure peaceful environment for all to cast their votes during the polls.”
