Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has been reelected to represent Okpe state Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
His victory was announced on Sunday by the constituency Returning Officer, Prof. Emmanuel Ighodaro Irhabor.
He said the Speaker polled 20, 784 to beat his closest rival, Mr. Harrison Akpojaro, who scored 8,564 to far second.
According to Irhabor, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP polled 20,415 to defeat Chief Great Ogboru of the APC, who scored 9,424 votes to trail behind in the gubernatorial poll held in the constituency.
In a brief chat after the declaration, the elated Speaker thanked the people of Okpe Local Government Area for voting massively for him and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Oborevwori had earlier boasted after casting his votes yesterday: “I am very sure of victory for our party, the PDP. We have worked hard in the last four years and I am optimistic that I will be re-elected and the same for our Governor. It will surely end in praise by the Grace of God”.
