Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has commended the people of the state for their continued support and the confidence reposed in his administration, which led to his landslide victory in the just concluded March 9 gubernatorial election in the State.
DAILY POST had reported on Sunday, that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, was declared winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Abia state.
Ikpeazu polled the total number of 261,127 to defeat Uche Ogah of the All Progressives Congress,APC, and Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APHA)
The governor who made this commendation while reacting to his victory in the just concluded governorship poll held in the state, at the weekend, extended hands of followership to Alex Otti and Uchechukwu Ogah, adding that he holds no bitterness against his opponents.
His words,”I want to thank the lord for a day like this. The culmination of our efforts all through the times of campaigns, through the polls and now official the declaration that I have been reelected to superintends over the affairs of Abia state.
” First of all, I want to commend INEC for a job well done. I congratulates Abians especially the youths for maintaining peace and allowing Abia once again, to run one of the most peaceful electioneering from time of campaigns, up until the elections proper, now to this moment.
“Once again, you have done it, devoid of bitterness, devoid of rancour, devoid of bloodletting. I congratulates ndi Abia for your faith and confidences in our ability to protect you, and we will continue to do this even through the next four years.
“I thank you for electing into your future, the youths of Abia. The same One hundred thousand jobs we promised in the Enyimba Economic city will now become a reality. The flyover we are doing in Aba, and many more will do in all parts of Abia would become a reality.
“The new city that we will emerge in Ohafia will become a reality. The industrial clusters at Ubani in Umuahia will become a reality. You can see that what you will foresee in this next four years, is an administration that will mainstream youths and women. And I promised that I will do that.
” I thank you very much for this renewed confidences and mandate that you have given to us, and I promise that together, to take Abia to the next level. Working with us and God helping us, Abia will be a prosperous land. May I use this opportunity as it is our custom, to extend hands of fellowship to those who lost in this elections. To them, I say that it is not a lost in absolute sense of the word, but it is a call for duty on the higher pedestal.
“But for those who indeed love Abia beyond their personal afflictions and join us in this government to deliver dividends of democracy. I hold no bitterness or anger against anybody. Yes, there may have tried, God’s will at all times, must prevail”.
