The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu, winner of the 2019 governorship election in Zamfara.
The State Collation officer, Prof Kabiru Bala of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria said the APC candidate polled 534,541 to defeat Dr. Bello Muhammad Mutawalle of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who got 189,452.
Bala said APC won with 20,986 votes in Anka local government area while PDP polled 8292.
He said in Gumi Local Government Area, APC polled 56,970 votes while PDP got 13,418 votes.
According to him, in Maradun Local Government Area, the results collected indicated that the APC scored 24,210 and PDP polled 18868.
In Talata Mafara, the local government area of the Governor, APC led with of 66,151 while PDP garnered 12691 votes.
He further explained that in Bakura Local Government Area, APC led with 45,467 votes while PDP got 15,331 votes.
