A former homeless man Patrick Hinga who went viral after he was rescued from the streets by a former schoolmate in 2017, has died.
Patrick Hinga, was addicted to drugs and lived on the streets for many years before being rehabilitated by his friend Wanja Mwaura.
News of Patrick Hinga’s demise was broken on Sunday evening by Wanja Mwaura.
“With deep sorrow I want to inform you that Hinga has rested. “He passed on this morning. I don’t have the strength to say much right now. R.I.P my friend,” Wanja, AKA Faith Nganga posted on social media.
Hinga’s rehabilitation from drug abuse was captured and shared step by step on social media by Ms Wanja Mwaura.
In early October, 2017, Ms Wanja was on her way to the market in Lower Kabete, Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city – when she heard someone shout out her name.
She looked up and was surprised to see a tall man with popping eyes, an emaciated frame, dirtied black overalls and when Hinga introduced himself, Wanja says she found herself in shock.
Standing before her was a friend she had known since she was seven years old, Wanja shared their story on social media.
