Sequel to the declaration of Governor Simon Lalong as the winner of the gubernatorial election in Plateau State, the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, has described the victory as the defeat of “elite gang-ups”.
He equally said Lalong won the re-run because of his high performance and his love for the electorate, who decided to reward him with a second term.
Badaru disclosed this while addressing journalists at the Lalong Campaign office, in Jos the State Capital.
“It is the tradition of the APC in every election to assign some governors to go to states, so that they can support the governorship candidate in the state undergoing election,” he said.
According to him, “I felt so happy when the APC sent him to Plateau State, because I knew the job would be easy, because I knew that the election was won already.”
The Governor described Lalong, as a most respected member of the Progressives Governors Forum, saying that the governor is so “humble, simple, kind and detribalised”.
“He put the People of Plateau state before himself. So we know that whatever gang-up, they have on him, he will always triumph,” Badaru said.
He thanked the people of the state for conferring the victory on Lalong to continue with his good policies of moving the state forward, urging the people to accord him maximum support and cooperation.
