Residents of Kofa/Maikadiri village of Aslira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State in northeast Nigeria have said that, they all slept in the bushes after they were forced to flee their homes last night as a result of an attack by Boko Haram militants who stormed the village at about 8:00pm on Monday.
Rakiya Umaru, a resident of Kofa/Maikadiri village told DAILY POST that, the militants who stormed the villages drove with vehicles mounted with guns and some of them riding on motorcycles.
“They were shooting sporadically, forcing us to scamper for safety in the nearby bushes.”
DALY POST also gathered that troops stationed at a nearby base along with vigilante and local hunters engaged and repelled the attack after about an hour of exchange of gunfire.
“The response from security operatives forced the militants to retreat. However, they have burnt some houses and looted food items from the village”. Another resident, Dauda Shawulu said.
Kofa/ Maikadiri is located at the border of Michika and Askira Uba.
