Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council has joined Nigerians in condemnation of the killing of one Kolade Johnson by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Kolade was alleged to have been shot by a member of a police team, while he was watching a Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in Lagos on Sunday.
Johnson’s death has since sparked widespread criticism, with a renewed call on the Federal Government to end the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) unit of the police.
Speaking on the development, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement said suspects have been arrested and investigation begun into the matter.
Keyamo, reacting on Twitter, urged the force to put an end to incessant killings.
According to him, “This is one killing too many of unarmed Nigerians. It has to STOP NOW.
“The need to have a special squad (irrespective of its designation) to protect citizens from armed robbery, cultism sad armed gangs must be accompanied by the proper training of its personnel on civil engagements.”
