The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the outlawed Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, just as it recovered fire arms from them.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Orisewejie Chuks, disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST.
He gave the names of the four suspected IPOB members to include, Nwafor Ifeanyi (33years), Ifeanyi Nwafor, Arinze Orji (21) and one Ekene Otakpo, who sustained gun injuries and presently receiving treatment at FMC, Asaba.
ASP Chuks said the suspected IPOB members allegedly invaded the “A” Division Police Station, Asaba with guns, dagger knives, fuel and other dangerous weapons in a bid to raze it down on 15/04/2019 at about 10015hrs.
ASP Chuks claimed that the hoodlums attacked and opened fire at the Policemen for resisting them.
According to him, “The Policemen led by the DPO promptly replied fire forcing the hoodlums to beat a retreat. During the melee, four (4) members of the groups were arrested.
He noted that of the suspects, Ekene Otakpo, who sustained gun shot wounds is presently receiving treatment at FMC, Asaba.
ASP Chuks also said the Police recovered, “one pump action gun with four hire cartridges and two (2) expended cartridges, assorted suspected criminal charms, four dagger knives, Four (4) IPOB flags, plat cards bearing referendum, Asaba get ready for your referendum today and ten (10) litres of petrol from the arrested suspects.
ASP Chuks stated that, “On preliminary investigation suspects admitted being members of IPOB. Suspects and exhibits handed over to State CIID for investigation.”
