No fewer than five suspected hoodlums have been arrested by the Ebonyi State police command for allegedly masterminding the burning to death of six family members from Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were also accused of beheading a herdsman in Onunwakpu, Izzi local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Musa Kimo in charge of Zone 6, Calabar made this known on Tuesday while addressing the governor, Chief David Umahi in a courtesy visit, which took place at the Exco-chambers government house Abakaliki.
Kimo said the arrest of the five war mercenaries have who have been terrorizing the Enyibichiri/Enyigba protracted crisis in Ikwo and Abakaliki local government area of the state is a good development for the state.
He said “some people have been arrested especially in respect of the gruesome murder of the Fulani man in Izzi. Equally some people were arrested; four or five who are mercenaries. They are with us, they are at the state CID and they are connected with the general crime that has to do with conflict.
“I want to believe that investigation is pointing that they are directly or indirectly affected with those killings.
“We will continue to do our best in our professional manner. Our intension is to try as much possible to declare criminals persona non-grata,” he stated.
