Armed bandits have forcefully sacked inhabitants of Kuriga village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State making them to flee.
The villagers, mostly women, arrived Birnin-Gwari on Wednesday as internally displaced Parsons, IDPs, due to the insecurity.
This was disclosed by a group, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, in a statement issued to newsmen.
The statement said, “Kuriga village situated along notorious Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Highway has been attacked by bandits nine times.
“The latest was on Tuesday night in which five women and men were abducted and cattle carted away by bandits.
“We urged all security and intelligence personnel to be on alert and salvage this ugly situation.”
It was gathered that the bandits also sent a letter on Thursday, 18th April, warning the people of Kuriga to leave the area or risk abduction.
When contacted, the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, could not respond to calls put to him on phone as at press time.
