Five suspected armed bandits that wreaked havoc on Idoani, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on April 8 have been remanded in police custody.
The suspects were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital On Wednesday for their alleged role in the Idoani bank robbery that led to the loss of seven lives.
Two weeks ago, armed men had in a Rambo style laid siege on the town when they stormed First Bank PLC for hours.
The deadly attack led to the death of four officials of the bank including its Operational Manager, two customers and a policeman on duty at the bank.
With one of the robbers said to still be at large, six of the suspected robbers were arraigned on a seven-count charge by the Ondo State Police Command.
After listening to both the prosecuting and defence counsels, the Chief Magistrate of the Court, Victoria Bob-Manuel remanded the suspects in police custody till 2nd of next month pending the advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph explained that the essence the court remanded the suspects in police custody was to ensure that the ongoing investigation is not tempered with their investment.
The remanded suspects are Isah Yusuf, 27, Joshua Egumah 27, Doris Alli Abdullahi 32, Philip Scheme 26, Odeh Friday 27 and Peter Ofomadu 29.
