The Peoples Democratic Party, Thursday raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to put its Osun governorship candidate, senator Ademola Adeleke out of circulation.
It also alleged that the APC elements were desperate to silence and endanger Adeleke’s life.
Besides, the opposition party accused the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Adeleye Oyebade of compromise and, a tool used by the ruling party to harass, intimidate and silence their supporters in the state.
These allegations were made by the PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan while briefing newsmen in Abuja.
In his words, “The life of our Osun governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke is in danger.
“Certain elements in the APC are now desperate and viciously trying to take all means to keep him out of circulation.
“PDP is now apprehensive as there are plots to silence Adeleke.
“APC in connivance with the police have yesterday April 24, arrested the principal of Ede Muslim Grammar school, Ede, Abbas Adejare and wife of the school Registrar with her 9-month-old baby on the trumped-up allegation that Adeleke forged his First School Leaving Testimonial.
” Information available to the PDP shows that AIG Adeleye Oyebade of zone 11,Osogbo, ordered the arrest of the innocent Principal of the school and the registrar.
“When the Registrar, Mr. Kabir Oladipo could not be reached as he is undergoing treatment for legs and arms injuries he sustained in a motor accident, AIG Oyebade allegedly ordered ASP Faliyu to arrest the wife, Mrs. Rofiyatu Oladepo with her 9-month-old baby.
PDP, therefore, called on the acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu to call his men to order, saying it was unfortunate as police has allegedly allowed themselves as tools in the hands of the APC.
The party also urged Adamu to caution his men against being used by the APC in issues relating to Adeleke’s determination to retrieve his alleged stolen mandate and to end all the schemes against Adeleke and his supporters.
It would, however, be recalled that the APC had earlier accused Adeleke of impersonation and forgery of his West African Examination Council, WAEC.
