The operations Harbin Kunama and Sharan Daji, the two components of the military operating in Zamfara State have paraded Anka Local Government council vice chairman, Mr. Yahuza Ibrahim and seven other suspected armed bandit in Zamfara State.
In a press briefing after the suspects were paraded, the force commander, Major Gen. Akeem Oladapo who spoke through the Acting Force Information Officer, Major Clement Abiade said three AK47, three Dane guns and Magazines were recovered from the suspected bandits.
The force commander noted that eight motorcycles that were being used for the nefarious activities were equally recovered from the suspected bandits within three days.
” We carried war to the hideouts and dens of the armed bandits and kidnappers even though it was a fire for fire operation with the armed bandits operating in various areas of the state, ” he added.
He said that a suspected logistics supplier, one Abdulahi Dan Koludo was arrested with a Canter truck full with food items and other essentially commodities suspecting that he was taking the items to the camps of the armed bandits and kidnappers with N7,000 discovered on him.
Major General Oladapo said his patrol team was ambushed by armed bandits in a joint boarders patrol with military personnel from Niger Republic, stressing that four of the notorious armed bandits were neutralized while he said that many soldiers from Niger Republic sustained various degrees of injuries in confrontation.
“We are committed to restoring peace and harmony in the entire northwest zone because it seems that the armed bandits and kidnappers have shifted to the zone,” he lamented.
The Force commander assured that after preliminary investigations the suspected bandits and kidnappers would be handed over to the police for possible prosecution in a Court of competent jurisdiction.
Major General Akeem Oladapo vowed that nobody would be a sacred cow or untouchable no matter whose ox is gored, saying that the military has taken it upon itself not to hide anything from the public.
