Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central has described as tragic and unfortunate the kidnapping of the Chairman, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Muhammad Abubakar Mahmud, alongside his daughter and the killing of his driver along Kaduna-Abuja highway on Monday.
The lawmaker made his feelings known in statement he personally released yesterday, while joining other Nigerians to register his displeasure over the unfortunate incident.
DAILY POST reports that the UBEC Chairman was kidnapped Monday evening alongside his daughter, while his driver was shot dead in Katari village, a development confirmed by the Kaduna State Police Command.
Reacting, however, Senator Sani said, “The reported kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Abubakar Mahmud and his daughter and the killing of his driver along Abuja Kaduna road yesterday is tragic and unfortunate.”
He called on the security agencies to jointly intensify efforts to secure freedom of the kidnapped victims.
“My heart goes to the victims and their families. May the soul of the deceased rest in peace. Amin,” Senator Sani prayed.
