The family of a former member of House of Representatives, who represented Akinyele/ Lagelu constituency until his death, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, has raised the alarm over alleged plans to release some suspected killers of the late lawmaker.
Olatoye, who contested the Oyo Central senatorial district election on the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the February 23 National Assembly election, was killed by some suspected assassins during the March 9 gubernatorial election at Lalupon area of Ibadan, the state capital.
DAILY POST, however, gathered that no fewer than three suspects have been arrested in connection of the lawmaker.
One of the persons, who was arrested in connection with the murder is a serving lawmaker representing Akinyele State Constituency in the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede.
But, an elder to the late lawmaker, Mr. Olajide Olatoye, while speaking on Thursday, alleged that some powerful people in the state including some members of the state House of Assembly have concluded plans for facilitate the release of the suspects.
Olatoye senior made this accusation during the lying in state for the stain lawmaker held at House of Chief, Agodi, Ibadan.
He noted that information reaching him was that Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State in conjunction with some members of the Oyo State House of Assembly were facilitating the release of some suspects arrested in connection with the assassination of the ex-lawmaker.
Olatoye said, “Governor Abiola Ajimobi should desist from facilitating the release of the killers of my brother.
“Let justice prevail, Oyo State Government should remove hand in the investigation of the incident and allow the perpetrators of the evil face the wrath of the law.
“Being a serving Oyo State House of Assembly member does not mean that you are untouchable.”
