The Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu on Friday disclosed that the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has agreed to work with the police.
Adamu disclosed that Fulani leaders under the umbrella of MACBAN agreed to support the police in flushing out bandits in Kebbi State and other parts of Northern Nigeria.
The police boss made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Adamu said: “They have agreed to work with us in our efforts to flush out bandits in Kebbi State.
“We will take measures to dialogue with the bandits to become better citizens but if that fails we will deal with them.”
Stressing that not all the bandits in areas of the state are of Fulani extraction, Adamu said the essence of the meeting was to dialogue with Fulani leaders and hear about their challenges.
Adamu, alongside the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazau and other top government officials were in Birnin Kebbi on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to dialogue with Fulani leaders on how to put an end to the menace of banditry in the country.
