The new Emir of Karaye in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II, has assured the people of his domain that he would strive to enhance security, agriculture and general economic development of the area.
The Emir made the pledge on Saturday when members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and National Association of Kano State Students (NAJSS) paid him solidarity visit at his palace in Karaye.
He said that the youths remained the vehicle for sustainable development of any society, as such they must learn to be self-reliant and not waste their precious time chasing after non existent white-collar jobs.
Abubakar assured of his total support to all youths desirous of making the best of their lives and communities.
According to him, the emirate council had started seeking ways towards harnessing and utilisation of the abundant natural resources in the area for the overall growth and development of the people.
He said his reign will ensure security of lives and property, agricultural revolution, education for the youths, self-reliance, self-sufficiency, as well as socio-economic development within the emirate.
According to him, Karaye and the other three emirates recently upgraded by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje have been in existence for over 100 years.
He commended Ganduje for summoning the courage to do the needful, insisting that the creation of the new emirates was done in the best interest of the people and to ensure even socio-economic development in the state.
In his address during the visit, NAKSS chairman, Comrade Aliyu Maikasuwa believed that the creation of the new emirates would attract development to all the nooks and crannies of Kano state.
“All we need in Kano is development. We can only pray that someday, these new emirates will be transformed into states, thereby attracting more development, creating more socio-political cum economic opportunities for our people.”
He added that, “we have come to the palace to show our solidarity with His Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II. We align ourselves with Governor Ganduje’s action and we make bold to say that his decision deserve commendation.
“Kano state is the most populous state in the country and we see nothing wrong in the creation of the new emirates. We are also aware of the fact that these emirates have been in existence years back and Governor Ganduje’s decision to upgrade the emirates and appoint first class Emirs to man them is what every leader with foresight will do.
“We also wish to use this opportunity to urge those who are opposed to the creation of these new emirates to think twice and lend their support to this noble cause that is designed to develop Kano, ensure peace, security and unity across the state.”
Also speaking, NYCN Kano chapter chairman, Comrade Kabiru Lakwaya said the group was delighted over Ganduje’s decision to carve out new emirates, adding that the effort would ensure unity and development.
“Just yesterday (Friday), we were at the Bichi Emirate and what we saw there is commendable. Already development has fully commenced in Bichi. We noticed the same thing as we are coming into the Karaye Emirate.
“So, we are happy to identity with the new Emirs and we are sure that going by their pedigree, they will not disappoint the people.”
