Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Director of Strategic Communication of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization in the last election, has reacted after Andy Ruiz Jr. stopped British title-holder, Anthony Joshua, in the seventh round of their fight in New York on Saturday to become the first Mexican-American Heavyweight World Champion.
DAILY POST had reported that Joshua, previously undefeated, who was defending his IBF, WBA and WBO titles but was knocked down four times before underdog Ruiz was awarded a technical knockout.
Ruiz, a late stand-in following Jarrell Miller’s failed drugs tests, has proved refreshing and eye-catching in fight week.
But reacting, Keyamo, in a tweet on his official Twitter page on Sunday, said that “Nigeria must support Joshua in good times and in bad times,” adding that he needs our love and support more now in order to bounce back.
He wrote: “Anthony Joshua needs our love and support more now in order to bounce back. As his native country, Nigeria must support him in good times and in bad times.
“Ali was ‘The Greatest’, not because he was not defeated, but because he came back 3 times after defeats to reclaim his crown.”
