Reports from across Yobe State indicated that the 2019 Eid-el-fitr congregational prayers were conducted peacefully under tight security.
At Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre Damaturu, Governor Mai Mala Buni was among hundreds of worshippers who observed the congregational.
This year’s Eid like in the previous years attracted hundreds of Muslims faithful including men, women, children, old and young with a view to observing the religious obligation at various grounds.
There was heavy presence of security personnel at all Eid grounds to ensure the protection of lives and property.
It was observed that in all the Eid grounds within the metropolis and elsewhere around the state, congregants had to subject themselves to security personnel for thorough search in order to avoid unforseen circumstances.
During the prayers, there was absolute compliance of restriction of vehicular movement across the state as imposed yesterday by the state government, thereby compelling worshipper to trek to various prayer grounds close to them.
The Eid congregational prayers marked the end of the month long Ramadan fasting following the sighting of the new crescent moon of Shawwal, the 10th month in the Islamic calendar.
As at the time of filing in this report, the restriction on vehicular movement imposed across the state has been lifted, hence motorists as well as other road users were seen plying the roads and going about their legitimate activities.
DAILY POST gathered that, the sermons delivered by Imams who led in the congregational prayers at various grounds across the state centred on the need for the faithfuls to reflect in their dealings the lessons of the period which are: endurance, sacrifice, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence among others.
