Nigeria’s Senate Presidential hopeful, Senator Ahmed Lawan has said that the 9th Senate will disagree with the executive when it becomes absolutely necessary in the interest of the nation.
Speaking in Abuja, Friday at an event to unfold his agenda, he explained that the Senate under his leadership would not be an appendage of the executive.
According to him, disagreement on issues does not amount to a confrontation on the executive, but a conviction to agree on what is good for the country.
“We will disagree on issues, but we have to disagree to agree. We will disagree with respect.
“There will not be a Senate which will be a rubber stamp of the Executive under my watch, but a Senate that is highly responsible and committed to those things that work for the country.
Ahmed Lawan from Yobe State will face Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State next Tuesday as Senator Danjuma Goje has stepped down for him.
