The Chairman, Presidential Support Committee (PSC) South-East, Mr. Chemberline Adiaso, on Friday, declared that Ndigbo must join forces to succeed in their struggle to produce the Speaker of the ninth House of Representatives.
He made the call while speaking with newsmen Umuhia, the Abia State capital, where he justified the need for the speakership to be zoned to the Southeast.
Adiaso, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said “Ndigbo, having lost the positions of the president, vice president and Senate President, should be allowed to produce the speaker of the House.”
“Nigeria seats on a tripod of Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba and the Ibo as the major tribes that hold the country together.
“So, the igbos should not be excluded in the power equation in the spirit of the Federal Character,” he further stated.
He noted that the call for Igbo speakership at the Green Chamber was made irrespective of party affiliations, adding that “the South-East should have a strong voice in the quest for the power play at the National Assembly.”
The APC stalwart said “this is especially necessary as the Igbo have been excluded in the first, second and the third citizens of the country.”
