Senator Shehu Sani has urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Super Falcons despite them losing their opening match in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Super Falcons lost 3-0 to their counterparts from Norway, in their first Group A match, at the ongoing 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Saturday night.
The Super Falcons had conceded all three goals in the first half.
Guro Reiten, Lisa-Marie Utland and an Ohale own goal gave the Scandinavian team a huge advantage going into the break.
There were no goals in the second half, even though Thomas Dennerby’s ladies were markedly better.
Nigeria will face Korea Republic in their next game on June 12, knowing that another defeat will result in early elimination from the tournament.
However, Sani has urged Nigerians to support the Falcons to win their upcoming matches.
In a tweet, the lawmaker wrote: “Our Falcons lost to Norway,we should continue to support them to win future matches,we shouldn’t be fair weather fans;Fire on ladies!!!”
