The newly swore-in member, representing Bende Federal Constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Chief Benjamin Kalu, has declared to work with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led Peoples Democratic Party administration in the state.
Kalu pointed out that irrespective of the party differences with the State Governor, he was ready to synergize with the PDP government in taking Bende Federal constituency in particular, and Abia in general to greater heights.
The APC chieftain, who made his feelings known in an interview with newsmen, after the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly, held in Abuja, disclosed that he would build a healthy inter-relationship with both the executive and the legislature in the state.
Kalu, also eulogized what he termed the level of the intelligence of Governor Ikpeazu, opined that party differences does not often mean constant confrontation to prove a point.
“Abia belongs to all of us. Like I have always said and others have said that as well, political party is just a vehicle to take you to a destination”.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), had declared Benjamin Kalu of the All Progressive Congress(APC) as the winner of the February 23 National Assembly election held in Bende federal constituency.
Kalu polled 9,138 to defeat Chima Anyaso of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 5591.
The returning officer for the constituency, Mr. Martin Okoro declared him the winner .
