The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, and Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Local Government chapel, has called on police in Osun state to fish out killers of its member, Comrade Ademiju Adenipekun.
DAILY POST reports that Adenipekun, who was a staff of Atakumosa West Local Government was murdered in cold blood on June 12, 2019 at Ikire, along Ilesa-Ibadan highway by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
While police in the state claimed to have arrested some cripples around the scene of the crime, who they said could have certain information about the assailants, nothing has been heard about the stage of investigation on the matter nor any arrest made so far.
Speaking shortly after the interment of Adenipekun, the duo of Comrades Adedeji Adeyeye and Omolojuolodumare Aderinwale, who are state chairmen of NULGE and NUJ LG chapel respectfully said the Osun State command of the Nigerian police must step up its strategy and bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to book quickly.
According to the duo, the nagging silence on what the police is doing concerning the case naturally springs up suspicion on possible intent to abandon the matter.
They argued that such gruesome murder of an innocent soul like many others that had happened in the state recently should not be swept under carpet.
