The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, over the loss of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, who was killed by suspected herdsmen on Friday.
Gov Akeredolu, who commiserated with the foremost Yoruba leader over the loss, also condole with the husband of the deceased, Mr. Idowu Olakunrin, over what he described as “painful loss”.
Describing the murder of Mrs Olakunrin as an ugly incident, the governor stressed that it is undoubtedly a death too many.
He added that the death of 58-year-old was a personal loss, adding that it is like mourning a relative whose life has just been cut short.
He expressed worry over the incident, stating that some measures must be taken to prevent a recurrence.
Akeredolu however promised that government will brief the media adequately about the steps and measures to be taken very soon.
The governor was accompanied by some members of the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Gbenga Ale, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Engr. Ade Adetimehin as well as other members of the state Executive Council.
DAILY POST recalls that the deceased was reported to have been shot dead by suspected Fulani herdsmen in her Land Cruiser SUV within the Ore axis of the Benin-Sagamu expressway.
She was said to be heading to Akure, the Ondo State capital, from Lagos to visit her 93-year-old father when her attackers struck on Friday.
