The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, Worldwide on Tuesday congratulated those President Muhammadu Buhari nominated for ministerial positions.
President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, had confirmed that Buhari sent list of Ministerial nominees to the Senate for approval.
He had confirmed the receipt of the list during plenary session and went on to reel out the names.
Reacting, OYC congratulated those from the South-East/South-South which includes: “Uche Ogar(Abia), Chris Ngige and Sharon Ikeazor (Anambra) Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi) Geoffrey Onyema (Enugu),Emeka Nwajuba (Imo) and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers)”.
In a statement signed by its President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, OYC said: “We thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for offering our distinguished sons and daughter the opportunity to serve and Urge the Senate to do the needful and confirm them.
“We wish to inform the newly Ministerial nominees of the urgent need to develop Igbo land by ensuring that they as Igbo Ministerial nominees work in harmoniously with the Igbo Governors who are mainly of the opposition party.
“We will not tolerate any show of force between any Ministerial nominee and any sitting Governor including Rivers State as recently experienced.
“We will closely monitor the activities of all the Ministerial nominees immediately after they’re confirmed by the Senate and assign portfolios as will not fail to explore all Peaceful ways including invoking Igbo diety “Amadioha” on anyone who plays 2023 politics using his position to distract any sitting Governor into unnecessary battles and Advice Igbo Governors to liaise with the newly Ministerial nominees as partners in progress to accelerate dividends of Democracy towards South East and Rivers State, what Igbo needs now absolute peaceful environment for businesses to thrive.”
