More witnesses have testified against the victory of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressives Party (YPP), who represents Anambra South Senatorial zone in the senate.
Ubah had been announced winner of the Anambra South Senatorial zone over his rivals; Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Andy Uba of All Progressives Congress during the Feb. 23 election.
The witnesses testified on Wednesday at the Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Awka, where Chief Chris Uba is challenging Ubah’s victory in a consolidated petition no. EPT/AN/SEN/11.
Uba had said he had no fewer than 32 witness to give evidence in his petition.
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Counsel to Uba, George Igbokwe (SAN) introduced Mr Ama Igwe, an Assistant Director in the ICT Department of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abuja to enter the witness box.
But Obinna Adindu Esq. and Chukwuemeka Nwigwe, counsels to INEC and and Ubah respectively both respondents in the petition objected that Igwe be allowed to testify nor his material evidence be admitted .
But Mr Pascal Okpala who also testified said he worked as PDP collation agent for PDP in Nnewi North said he did not sign the result sheet which the defense showed him.
Okpala, who earlier tendered Results, Voter Register and INEC Smart Card Reader results from his party said he did not know one Mr Arinze Ejimonye whose name appeared to on the result.
Mr Tony Ngaji also testified bringing the number of witnesses that have appeared for the petitioner so far to four.
The petitioner was consolidated with petition no. EPT/AN/SEN/09/2019 filed by Sen. Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress for the same Anambra South District.
The tribunal adjourned sitting on the petition for further hearing.
