The Nigerian Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle challenges facing Nigeria.
In a joint statement on Saturday, the coalition lamented what it termed the serial political imbalance and hydraheaded government’s policies.
The statement signed by Yerima Shettima, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum; Oladotun Hassan, President, Yoruba Council of Youths; Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council and Pereotubo Oweilaemi, also demanded a new National Dialogue document master plan to salvage the nation from imminent collapse.
They said their call was “in view of the ongoing premeditated and inciteful actions from various groups intended to cause full break down of law and order if not checkmated, more so when we are aware of the unmitigated crippling effect of corruption on the economy, political brouhaha and continued armed bandits and terrorist attacks, kidnappings and killings of peace loving Nigerians across the nation unabatedly.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the unconditional release of Omoyele Sowore, Convener, Revolution Now Movement, who was arrested by men of the DSS over planned 5th August, 2019 mass protest revolution against the government, as his arrest will trigger civil disobedience and give the Youths the impetus to resort to Revolution Now.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari alongside 36 States governors to jointly proffer short and long term goals and objectives, aimed at rebuilding confidence and patriotism, developing economic master plan and innovative poverty alleviation programs in Nigeria only through National Dialogue.
“This must be done immediately to show the will power of democracy at work, and protect the civil rights of the citizens, preserved constitutional authority and sovereignty of the government, for if this shield of tacit complicity and gross abandonment persist unabatedly, it is capable of being triggered by any slightest provocative anger of the mass of the people to gravitate total shut down of the nation.
“We are livid to reality, that our various regions can no longer be a slaughter slabs and breeding ground for terrorism crimes and wanton kidnapping and daily merciless killings, corruption inflicted economy and nepotism, while our people die helplessly under the bullets and machetes of armed bandits, precipitating our call on the Federal Government to go after these criminals and bring them to justice.
“We shall be demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari set all machineries of government in motion to kick start the convocation of a National (Youth) Dialogue ahead 30th September to 1st October, 2019, as jointly resolved and proposed by the Nigerian Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum, in consonant with the recent corresponding general outcries and clarion calls from regional leaders and stakeholders across the country.
“We reassure all Nigerians to go about there normal daily life affairs with cause for no fear or domineering attacks, invasion nor hatreds, while we reiterate our stance for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the killers and kidnappers, it is of immaterial consequences either they are Fulani, Yoruba, Igbo extractions/origin or foreigners by the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
