The Zamfara State Police command has said that it has commenced investigation into an attempt to set ablaze the residence of former Information Commissioner, Ibrahim Danmalikin-Gidangoga.
According to the police Spkesman SP Mohammed Shehu, the unidentified persons had attempted to burn materials into the resident at about 2am on Friday, but the fire was eventually put off.
“We have received the report of the incident, we have already embarked on investigation to unravel those behind it”, said SP Muhammad Shehu.
The police Spokesman noted that, “It is very unfortunate now that the state is experiencing peace and stability some people are trying to cause havoc.
Shehu warned that the security operatives would not tolerate any form of thuggery and violence, pointing out that the command would deal decisively with anyone disobeying the law of the land.
In a swift reaction, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman condemned the incident in its totality, describing it as unfortunate and worrisome to the party.
The chairman, therefore, urged security agencies to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to book.
Liman advised the state government to take measures to end political thuggery and all forms of violence in the State.
He noted that when APC was in power in the state, it “allowed opposition political parties to exercise their rights without molestation.
“Security agencies should, therefore, ensure perfect protection of our members as every Nigerian has the right to political choice,” he lamented.
