Media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmaad, has come under attack over a statement confirming the release of three final-year law students of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria.
DAILY POST had reported that the Kaduna State Police Command rescued three students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, abducted on Monday along Abuja-Kaduna highway.
The Command’s Public Relations Officers, DSP Yakubu Sabo, in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna, said that Armed Men in Military Uniform intercepted some commuters near Masari Village along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, opened fire on the vehicles, in the process kidnaped six persons.
Also, Ahmad on his Twitter page added that the prompt response from police aided the release of the ABU students.
However, a family member of one of the victims identified as Sadiq Ango on his Twitter page countered Ahmad, revealing that the students were released after 48hrs of negotiation and payment of ransom.
His comment has since generated reactions from some Nigerians who accused Ahmad of being economical with the truth.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:
@Sadiqango “Lies… It took us 48 long hours of negotiations with the kidnappers to secure the release of our sister to us, NOT the police. Ransom was paid in full as negotiated with the three families involved.”
@Mydeji247 “Federal Government of Lies, Deceit, Falsehood and Death. Kidnap is a life-changing experience. What the victims go through is unimaginable. But one Bashir is in Aso Rock, busy tweeting whatever catches his fancies because his Sisters are somehow safe. Nobody is safe really.”
@PD2019 “Government of the Lies, For the Lies ,By the Lies. @BashirAhmaad has dethroned Lai Mohammed!
@Gulam_Dalha “Please who are we going to trust the police or you @sadiqango or the media aid of the president @BashirAhmaad.”
@234southside “We trust Sadiq who hasn’t been lying to us at any chance possible than the other who has been so consistent with lying for a lying government. Members of the families have also confirmed same.”
@Boyemdee “I spoke with father of one of the victims and he told me ransom was negotiated and paid in full.“
@Mahmiee “Sadiq is one of the key negotiators in this tragic experience. He spoke one on one with the kidnappers for over 48 hours yet you are asking if you can trust him. It is a shame to the government of Nigeria to not have been able to do anything even though they were contacted.”
@Gakpan2009 “In all sincerity, who do you want to trust? A lie agent of the govt or a close relative of one of the kidnapped victims?
@Paulbar05132358 “Bashir is another lying machine that was recommended by chief Lia Muhammed.”
