Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on political matters, Babafemi Ojudu, has declared that many Nigerians in South Africa were not willing to return home despite the xenophobic attacks.
The former Ekiti Senator said this as Nigeria begins evacuation of citizens interested in leaving their host country.
Ojodu made the revelation on his Instagram page at the weekend.
He said: “I have heard of the plan by Air Peace to go to SA and evacuate Nigerians. Like seriously?
“This shows a lack of understanding of the situation down here. “I am here in SA. I am not sure Nigerians here are in a hurry to leave. I am also not sure many see the need to leave. I visited a hospital here today and met many Nigerian doctor and health workers.
“They are busy carrying out their legitimate duties. I was in Mandela Square and was served at a restaurant by two Nigerians, they didn’t express any anxiety and neither did they feel under any pressure to flee SA.”
