Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, on Friday, said it is backing the call for the prosecution of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon by another Pro-Biafra body known as Customary Government of Indigenous people of Biafra, CG-IPOB.
The CG-IPOB had yesterday dragged Gowon, Obasanjo, and the Attorney-General of the Federation to a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu.
In suit No. FHC/EN/CS/103/2019, coming up on October 2, 2019, demanding that the court decides on issues relating to self-determination, regional autonomy, and roles the respondents played during the civil war, referendum, among other things.
Declaring on behalf of the group, acting leader of BNYL, Ebuta Ogar Takon, in a statement to DAILY POST on Friday, said: “The case was instituted to give the struggle a legal shape, even though it might be hard to defeat the defendants in their own Court.”
Takon advised the Legal Team to consider the International Court as it’s a final destination.
A London-based lawyer, and pioneer of CG-IPOB, Barr. Emeka Emekesiri had dragged the defendants to court, praying the court to determine whether the Igbo should leave or remain in Nigeria.
