Ad-Hoc committees constituted by the Adamawa State House of Assembly with a mandate to assess the performance of the 21 Local Government Transition Committees (LGTCs) in the State, began its assignment on Tuesday.
The committees are expected to, among other things, carry out assessment of the performance of the LGTC Chairmen within their first 100 days, by interacting with the council chairmen and councillors.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, had last week announced the composition of the committees, giving them two weeks within which to complete their assignment.
The constitution of the committees followed a matter of public concern raised by the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Umar Nashion Gubi (Nasarawo Binyeri), who prayed the Assembly to set up committees to oversee the 21 LGCs and get firsthand information on what they have been able to do for their people within 100 days.
The Speaker had divided the House into four different committees, headed by Hon. Kate Mamuno (Demsa), Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak (Verre), Hon.Hammantukur Yettisuri (Jada Mbulo) Majority Leader and Hon. Japhet Kefas(Gombi).
Hon. Mamuno who will be leading other four members, will visit Gombi, Song, Girei, Yola South and Fufore LGCs, while Hon. Yapak, with other five members will be heading to Toungo, Ganye, Jada, Mayo Belwa and Yola North LGCs.
The Majority Leader’s Committee with four membership will tour Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, and Hong, while Hon. Japhet Kefas, with othe four lawmakers will visit Shelleg, Guyuk, Numan, Lamurde and Demsa LGCs
