The Oyo State House of Assembly has tasked the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Shina Olukolu and other heads of security agencies in the state to beam their searchlights on already identified security flashpoints across Oyo State to rid the state of crimes.
This decision, DAILY POST gathered was necessary due to the recent incidents of security breaches in some areas across the state.
Our correspondent gathered that there had been reports of incidents of armed robberies in some parts of Ibadan, the state capital. The latest reported case was the killing of a security guard at Akobo area of Ibadan last weekend.
But, the Assembly while reacting urged the Commissioner of Police and his counterparts in other security agencies to double their efforts in checkmating the rising spate of crimes in the state.
The Assembly urged the security agencies to instruct their officers and men to increase surveillance and beam their searchlight on already identified flashpoints across Oyo state to rid the state of crime.
The order was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance brought before the Assembly by the Majority Leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin on Tuesday.
Adedoyin, who represents Ogbomoso South while presenting the matter made references to reported cases of armed robbery attacks, snatching of cars, phones and bags among other crimes in places like Born Photo, Beere, Iwo Road, Ojoo, Gate, General Gas, Akobo in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo state.
Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin while speaking said if securing agencies fail to urgently curb the activities of men of the underworld, the efforts of the present administration in Oyo state in ensuring a peaceful and safe environment would go down the drain.
