The Coalition of Kogi Citizens in Diaspora, CKCD, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, and other security agencies in the country over an alleged plot to flood Kogi State with armed Oduduwa People Congress, OPC, members from Lagos State to across Kogi State with the intention of causing colossal damages, threat, and disruption of the election.
The group also alleged that there are plans by the ruling party to cause harm to some opposition party supporters and members during the polls.
The petition directed to the office of the IGP and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, reads, “Petition to call your attention of a plan to deploy armed members of the Oduduwa People Congress (OPC) from Lagos to cause serious mayhem on Kogi voters and leading opposition political parties in the November 16, 2019 governorship election
“We have been following the political antecedent in [Kogi] state and observed high violence and intimidation of the unarmed electorate creating tension that might cause political aparty.
“We hereby call on you to use your good offices to immediately, take preventive measures as the forthcoming election is a decider of the likely survival or continuous existence of the sovereignty of Kogi State.
“It may interest you to know that they have started the movement and that the hotel, Governor Lodge across the Local Government in Kogi could have been flooded with this artificial thuggery.
“The International community is watching on the neutrality and the security team in the state.
“In conclusion, we wish to appeal to you as a matter of urgency, to put an enhanced detail security to avert the impending atrocity.”
