A senior District Head in Gummi, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Gummi, (Bunun Gummi), has been suspended indefinitely from throne pending the findings of a committee set up to investigate him over the recent attack at Karaye village in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs and General Services, Alhaji Aliyu Bello Maradun and made available to newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, the District Head was suspended with immediate effect due to his alleged involvement in banditry activities in the area.
“The District Head, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Gummi, is suspended with immediate effect, pending the outcome of the committee to investigation the alleged banditry activities following the recent killings of 19 innocent people of Karaye village,” the statement noted.
It could be recalled that Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle had constituted a committee to investigate the main cause of the recent killings of the people in Karaye community, which he said was unfortunate and shocking considering the peace initiative and reconciliation initiatives by his administration, saying that peace had returned in the state before the recent attack.
“I have made a vow to deal ruthlessly with anybody or group of persons trying to sabotage or undermine the well coordinated security network put in place by this administration.”
