Bashir Ahmaad, Special Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the outcry of Nigerians over the social media bill.
DAILY POST reported that the Senate on Wednesday passed for second reading, the bill, which was sponsored by Senator Musa Mohammed Sani representing Niger East Senatorial District. It would restrict cyberspace falsehood against any citizen if passed into law.
Some Nigerians took to their Twitter page signing a petition to stop the passage of the bill.
Bashir Ahmaad responding to a post on his Twitter page, commended Nigerians seeking an end to the passage of the bill.
Ahmaad advised Migerians to reach out to different senators to take down the bill.
According to him, the social media bill will be taken down when all Nigerians say no to it.
Ahmaad wrote: “Well done, Jeffrey! That’s how it should be, in support or against the social media bill, reach out and talk directly to your senators, they are our representatives.
“When we all say no to social media bill, the Bill will be down, honorably.”
