A senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Prof. Jerome Elusiyan, was on Friday shot dead by unknown gunmen.
According to a family source, the incident happened at Iruekpen, a local government area in the Central District of Edo state where the deceased was attacked by some unidentified armed men and shot dead on the spot.
It was learnt that Professor J.B.E ELUSIYAN was on his way back from Ekpoma where he went to invigilate medical students of the Ambrose Alli University when this unfortunate incident happened.
The deceased, was the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, (OAUTH), Ile-Ife.
The Public Relations Officer of OAUTHC, Mrs. Kemi Fasoto, confirmed the incident to journalists on Saturday.
Fasoto said the deceased was shot dead during the attack while his driver sustained gunshot injuries, Vanguard reports.
