Alhaji Ismail Ademola Babalola on Wednesday emerged as the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ).
Babalola defeated the incumbent Chairman, Mr. Adewumi Faniran at the election, which took place at the NUJ Secretariat, Iyaganku, Ibadan, the state capital.
Babalola,l scored 179 to defeated Faniran, who scored 6 votes.
Others who emerged in the election included Olusola Oladapo, who scored 175 votes to defeat the incumbent secretary, Bola Ogunlayi who got 10 votes while Akeem Abas defeated the incumbent Treasurer, Busola Adetunji to emerge Treasurer.
The rest were; Abiodun Atitola who emerged unposed as Financial Secretary, Daud Aderogba who emerged unposed as Assistant Secretary.
While announcing the result of the election, Senior Assistant National Secretary of NUJ, Mr. Gbemiga Bamidele said all the elected officers emerged having satisfied the electoral process by scoring the highest number of votes in the election.
The newly elected executive members have been sworn by Barrister Adebayo Salawu.
Babalola, while speaking, promised to fulfil his campaign promises to the members of the union.
