The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it has, in conjunction with the police, launched a manhunt for an unknown driver, who allegedly hired thugs to attack its officials while stopping him for flouting traffic rules.
The incident, DAILY POST gathered, happened on Sunday on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.
The Ogun FRSC Route Commander, Florence Okpe, informed that FRSC officials around the Mowe axis of highway were assaulted by a driver of a Toyota Corolla car with number plate, KTU 828 CF.
Okpe said the driver drove against traffic and was stopped by the FRSC Patrol Team.
It was gathered that the driver attacked one of the Marshals, protesting being stopped for driving against traffic.
“While the Marshal was subtly explaining the danger of his action, the unruly driver instigated some miscreants nearby, who joined him in attacking and obstructing the entire patrol team from discharging their duties.
“With the aid of the miscreants the offender (driver) was able to escape arrest,” Okpe said.
The team, DAILY POST gathered, lost two telephone handsets in the process.
The case was reported at the Mowe Police Station.
