The National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, Barrister Olusegun Bamgbose, says it is really sad and very unfortunate that politicians instead of proffering solutions to the perennial problems confronting the nation are busy strategizing for 2023.
Politicians across the country are currently lobbying for positions at the presidency come 2023, more so, with a religious leader, Tunde Bakare urging President Buhari to commence search for his successor,
In a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST, Bamgbose described the action of politicians in the country as absurd.
He said that Bakare’s visit to the State House, for instance, should have bothered on finding lasting solutions to the spate of insecurity in the nation instead of preempting 2023”
He noted that many young Nigerians are roaming the streets without jobs.
According to Bamgbose “The economy is not as buoyant as it ought to be. These are areas where one would have expected our politicians to proffer solutions.
“The truth of the matter is that our leaders are bothering the President. Tinubu is surely scheming to be the next President of Nigeria. He has only visited the President to tactically inform the President about his Presidential ambition come 2023. Visiting the President to inform him of a succession plan is not yet necessary is not really important”.
“He could have organized a Press conference for that. I want to urge our politicians including Bakare and Tinubu to stop bothering Buhari about a succession plan, rather they should advise Buhari on how to confront the challenges of Nation building. Buhari on his own should stop granting audiences to politicians who will bother him about 2023.
“One would expect our Presidential aspirants to come up with ideas that can move the nation forward. Let Nigerians feel their impact on what they are capable of doing not disturbing President Buhari as to 2023 presidential elections.
“Personally I’ve been doing that because I sincerely believe I’m an asset to the nation. Hopefully, before Democracy day, we shall be coming with plans to complement the efforts of the Federal Government. It’s known as the Strategic Partnership Program, SPP.”
