United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, on Friday, told Congress that Iran now takes America seriously.
The senior Trump administration official, however, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the U.S country is not currently engaged in hostilities against Iran.
On the killing of a top Iranian General, Qassem Soleimani, Pompeo said the assassination made U.S. personnel abroad safer.
“Removing him from the battlefield was a de-escalatory measure The killing made Iran take U.S. deterrence more seriously.
“They recognised the seriousness with which America acted,” Dpa quoted Pompeo as saying.
Pompeo insisted that Soleimani was planning additional attacks on U.S. citizens.
He disclosed that the U.S. will sustain its pressure campaign on Iran.
