The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency has pledged to collaborate with Bauchi Public Health Network to address Health related issues in the state.
The executive Chairman of the Agency Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad made the pledge when members of Bauchi Public Health Network paid him a courtesy call in his office.
According to him, in the previous year’s the Federal government introduced various health related policies but due to non involvement of communities they failed and pledged to involve journalists to ensure the success of health programme in the state.
Dr Rilwanu assured of the Agency’s full support and cooperation to the Bauchi Public Health Media Network towards ensuring that health issues are addressed.
He also expressed concern over the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state and called on the forum to assist in educating the public on the need to always wash their hands
In a remark the media focal person Mrs Elizabeth Carr said eighteen Journalists including information officers were trained by The Challenge Initiative and Development Communication Network to assist in carrying out campaigns on public health issues considering that it cannot be successful without mobilising media
Mrs Elizabeth Carr said the training focused writing reports that will change the attitude of people and hold government accountable on issues that affect the masses.
She said primary health care is the key to health care delivery in the state stressing that as volunteers the forum will assist in mobilising people to embrace it’s programme to ensure success.
