The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has reacted to the death of the mother to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
DAILY POST has reported that the governor’s mother died in Abuja Hospital after a brief illness.
The Forum in a condolence message on Sunday by its chairman and Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, prayed for eternal rest for the soul of Hajiya Hauwa’u Oziohu Bello.
Lalong in the message by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, in Jos, described the death of the Matriarch, at the age of 101, as sad
He urged the family to be comforted that she lived a long, fruitful and blessed life to see many generations of her family.
“Mama lived a life of testimony, having persevered through the struggles of life and raising children that have become major contributors to the growth and development of not only Kogi, but the nation as a whole.
“We can only celebrate her and pray that God almighty grant her soul eternal rest and comfort the family and her loved ones,” he said.
The NGF chairman urged her children, grandchildren and great-grand children to emulate her virtues, NAN reports.
Lalong said during her lifetime, she demonstrated the fear of God, promoted good moral values of honesty, charity, forgiveness, tolerance and harmony in her community.
Also, the wife of President of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari sent a message to Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello over the death of his mother.
In a message sent by Aliyu Abdullahi, Mrs Buhari’s Special Assistant on media, she said: “Hajiya Hauwau Bello has lived an exemplary life worthy of celebration and emulation, and should therefore be immortalized especially as a champion of taking care of women and children, (both her children and adopted ones), her doors were always open for all when she was alive. This is what we should all remember her for.”
