The Chairman of Udi local government, Hon. Ifeanyi Agu has declared that with the leadership being provided by the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the local government chairmen in the State have no reason to disappoint the people.
Agu, who spoke during the inauguration of the legislative arm of the local government, reiterated his resolve to work as a team with both the councillors and the other members of his Executive to reposition Udi local government Area.
He said with Governor Ugwuanyi’s commitment to local government autonomy, he would ensure good governance, as well as social infrastructure.
“We are lucky to have a Governor who is an advocate of local government autonomy; he is a grassroot person and that is why the State Government is so much committed to rural development.
“So, we have no reason not to perform. We assure our people that will key into the good foundation already laid by the working-Governor of Enugu State,” he declared.
The Chairman promised to create a new face of the local government area in both capital development and inclusive governance, especially at the grassroot level regardless of political or other group leanings.
Agu thanked the Almighty God for a hitch-free election, especially as there was no case of violence, accident or any other mishap recorded during both the campaign and election respectively.
While calling for support of the Councillors through consultations to enable them discharge their duties optimally, he congratulated them on their victory at the just concluded polls, and charged them on quality representation.
Agu expressed appreciation to stakeholders and Ndi Udi in general for their prayers and support during the election, and assured that his administration would deliver the mandate given by the people.
The high point of the occasion was the administration of oath of office to the newly elected Councillors from the 20 wards that make up Udi local government by the Director of Personnel Management of the local government.
Notable dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Chairman of Udi, Hon. Anthony Okolie, DG, Hon. Nze Philip Okoh, the immediate past TC Chairman of Udi, Engr. Kene Eze, Udi PDP Chairman, Hon. Okey Aneke, among others.
